Celebrating volunteers with documentary storytelling

The Volunteer Experience is a short documentary that follows Ginny, a community volunteer at Care Centers of Nassau in Florida.

Care Centers of Nassau

This video explores practical ways that a volunteer can help out with daily needs at a place like Care Centers of Nassau and the bigger picture impact that a willing individual can make—tapping into the passion that fuels their volunteerism.

Ginny is a retired nurse who has been volunteering her time at Care Centers of Nassau for about 10 years! She will often come in about 30 hours per week to spend time with the developmentally disabled residents.

All of the residents love Ginny, and they are excited to see her when she arrives. She will play games with them, assist with therapeutic art, and help with other activities.

This was a heartwarming project to produce and direct. I love meeting new people who are doing amazing acts of kindness and service. Furthermore, it’s a privilege to help share their experience via documentary storytelling, because I get to shine a light on the wonderful things that they are accomplishing.
